FUNNY WOMEN AMSTERDAM: Safety Protocol

Version 1.1 | Effective March 6, 2026

Our Philosophy

At Funny Women Amsterdam, safety is non-negotiable. We believe that for comedy to be truly free-spirited and bold, the environment surrounding it must be secure. This protocol isn't about censoring what happens on the show; it’s about ensuring that every guest, performer, and volunteer feels respected the moment they step into our space.

The Rules of the Room

By participating in our shows, workshops, or volunteer programs, you agree to the following:

  • Enthusiastic Consent: "No" means no, and "Maybe" also means no. Respect the personal and professional boundaries of everyone in the room. If a request is declined, back off immediately.

  • Physical Autonomy: Do not touch anyone—performers, staff, or audience members—without explicit, clear consent. This includes "friendly" gestures that may be unwanted.

  • Conduct: Harassment, stalking, or intrusive behaviour in the venue, backstage, or outside the venue will result in an immediate ban.

  • Hate Speech & Discrimination: We celebrate the "edge" of stand-up, but we do not tolerate hate speech. Targeted abuse based on race, skin colour, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or nationality is grounds for removal.

  • Zero Tolerance for Aggression: Verbal or physical aggression, as well as any form of non-consensual sexual behaviour, will lead to an immediate and permanent ban from all future events.

  • Staff Authority: Our venue staff and organisers are here to keep the peace. Their word is final.

Reporting & Accountability

We don't just set rules; we enforce them. If you experience or witness behaviour that violates this protocol:

  1. On-Site: Speak to the host, the door person, or any designated staff member immediately.

  2. Digital: Email us at roxy@funnywomen.com. Your report will be handled with discretion and seriousness.

A Living Document

This is Version 1.0. As we grow, we learn. We welcome your feedback on how to keep the Amsterdam comedy scene a space where everyone feels safe enough to be hilarious.
